"To My Dear and Loving Husband"

     This week my favorite poem was "To My Dear and Loving Husband". The speaker of this poem was Anne Bradstreet and she talked about the relationship between a husband and a wife. The whole poem was purely dedicated to her own husband. The occasion was Puritan times. This poem contradicted the writing style of that time because it showed emotion throughout all the stanzas. The purpose was to inform and explain her feelings towards her husband. The author uses metaphor to compare her love to a gold mine, and no amount of money could ever change her love towards him.
     The subject of the poem was clearly her love towards her husband. All through the poem, her tone was very emotional and loving. She claimed her love with last forever. Even if she dies, the love will always stay and they will be together for eternity. Bradstreet said she was thirst for love. Love was compared to water, and how you can never get enough of water. She must always have her love. Never gets enough of the love and is always thirsty for more. Bradstreet really convinced me through this poem that she has great love towards her husband.
